Alexander happy with squad
Fleetwood boss Graham Alexander is happy with his new-look squad following a summer of heavy recruitment.
The former Preston midfielder has been in the Highbury hotseat since December last year and has been backed handsomely by the Cod Army board to bring in new additions since the end of the previous campaign.
The likes of Ryan Cresswell, Mark Roberts and Jeff Hughes have all arrived at the club and Alexander is content with the players now at his disposal.
"We got to the summer and for us to progress, for me to feel comfortable in the job, I had to bring in players that I foresaw playing my way, so there was a big turnaround and we're really happy with the work we did over the summer as a club," he said.
"There was a lot of people involved in that and we feel we've brought in the right lads to complement the ones we had last year."
Many of those signings have a wealth of experience in the Football League's lower divisions and Alexander acknowledged he was searching for a specific type of player.
He added: "There's good players out there but we want to win games and you need to have the right characters and personalities throughout your squad.
"I'm a big believer in the strength of the changing room and the togetherness of the changing room. We worked hard when we identified the players, we did our due-diligence and made sure they were the right characters to bring in.
"We are running with a much smaller squad this year. They don't all have to get along but they all have to have a respect for their fellow professional and a good camaraderie that way and that's what we've got at the moment.
"It's something that we want to protect and the players have to take responsibility for that as well."
