All systems go for Wetherby
Tuesday's jumps meeting at Wetherby finally got the go-ahead less than and an hour and half before the scheduled first-race time of 1.40.
A colder than expected night had led to some frost in the ground and a first precautionary check at 10.30am.
Clerk of the course Jonjo Sanderson gave the course more time and the track was found to be raceable at a second inspection at noon.
Sanderson said: "It wasn't so much a close call as a waiting game.
"We got temperatures we weren't expecting (overnight) and it took the frost a bit longer to come out.
"I'm glad it's February 19 and not January 19. We've got daylight and heat on our side, so we're on and we're racing."
The going is described as soft.
