Alnwick departs Brisbane Road

Leyton Orient confirm that they have cancelled the contract of goalkeeper Ben Alnwick.

The 27-year-old joined Orient from Charlton on a short-term deal on transfer deadline day in January and made his debut in the 2-1 defeat at Rotherham the next day.

But he has not featured since, having been signed off for personal reasons, and the O's have confirmed he has now left Brisbane Road.

"Unfortunately the move did not work out in the way that either the player or the club would have wanted and so we have come to an agreement with Ben that it is best if we part ways," Orient chief executive Matt Porter told the club's official website.

"Sometimes these things happen and it's not something that anyone could have seen happening, particularly so soon into his time with us, but we have moved on and I'm sure Ben will too."

The former Sunderland and Tottenham keeper added: "I'm sorry for how things have worked out but I'd like to thank the club for their support throughout this time and wish them all the best for the future."
