Amazonas team delighted
Connections of Amazonas are happy with a job well done having picked up some valuable Group One black type with the filly at Newmarket.
The Ed Dunlop-trained juvenile won at the first time of asking at Yarmouth and had run well in defeat since.
She put up a career-best effort when third behind Certify in the Fillies' Mile and Barry Simpson, racing manager to owner Sir Robert Ogden, hopes she will be in the running to land a Group win over middle distances next season.
"She's not really a Group One filly, I think we know that," said Simpson.
"However, next season, when hopefully she'll stay further, could see her improve a bit more.
"She improved steadily this season, ran a good race at Goodwood and then picked up third in the Fillies' Mile.
"Next year she might be up to winning a Group Three or Group Two.
"I suppose you could say this season was mission accomplished. We bided our time with her, waited for the right race and it paid off."
