Ambrose makes Greek switch

Birmingham midfielder Darren Ambrose has completed his loan move to Greek Super League side Apollon Smyrni until the end of the season.

Ambrose joined Blues in the summer of 2012 but has made just 10 first-team appearances during his 18 months at St Andrew's, the last of which came in mid-September.

And with his contract at the midlands club set to expire this summer, it looks as though the 29-year-old may well have played his last game in a Birmingham shirt.

Manager Lee Clark told the club's official website: "Darren is a talented footballer but for whatever reason since he's come to Birmingham it hasn't happened for him. He's found it more and more difficult.

"Maybe he has lost a bit of confidence. I think the fresh start for him and his family will prove to be productive. As a club and as me as the manager I wish him well."

Apollon, who are managed by former Northern Ireland and Fulham boss Lawrie Sanchez, currently lie 13th in Greece's top flight.
