Amex on Rugby WC shortlist

Brighton's Amex Stadium could be hosting games for the Rugby World Cup in 2015 after being included on the provisional list of venues.

The Seagulls' home, which opened at the start of last season, is one of 17 potential venues being considered for the tournament.

Brighton chief executive Martin Perry told the club's official website: "This is fantastic news and further evidence that the stadium is a world-class venue, attracting interest on an international scale.

"It is a terrific opportunity for our wonderful stadium and the city of Brighton and Hove."

Tournament organisers England Rugby 2015 will confirm the final list of 10-12 venues early next year.

Other football grounds on the provisional list include those of Manchester United, Newcastle, Sunderland, Aston Villa, Southampton, Bristol City, Derby, Coventry, Leeds, Leicester and MK Dons.
