An Saighdiur in Ascot frame
An Saighdiur could be prepared for a trip to Royal Ascot following an excellent run in the Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh.
Trainer Andrew Slattery pitched his talented sprinter in against much higher rated horses in the Group Three contest, but the seven-year-old did him proud by finishing third behind proven top-level performers Slade Power and Maarek.
Slattery said: "We were thrilled with him.
"He's in the Wokingham and he'd go there if it came up soft at Royal Ascot.
"There's also a Group Three at Newcastle (Chipchase Stakes) a week after Royal Ascot to think about.
"We'd very much like to go back to the Ayr Gold Cup as we've some unfinished business that day (close third in last year's Silver Cup).
"Billy (Lee, jockey) also said after the Greenlands that the Group Two on Champions Days at Ascot would be the race for him.
"We won't be over-racing him and will save him for a back-end campaign."
