Anderson backs KP tour axe

England paceman James Anderson has backed the ECB's decision to omit Kevin Pietersen from the Test squad for the forthcoming tour of India.

However, Anderson does admit that England are a better side with Pietersen in it.

He told Sky Sports News: "The selectors have made a decision. There have obviously been talks going on between Kevin and the ECB and unfortunately this is the situation we are left with. He is not coming to India and there is not really much as players we can do about that.

"Kevin is a batsman that can win matches and he can turn games on their head in no time at all. We saw that in Sri Lanka when he got a big hundred in the game we won at the start of the year and his huge hundred against South Africa at Headingley.

"He is great player and any team would want him in their side because of his talent and match-winning ability.

"But the situation we have been left with at the minute is that he is not coming to India and as players we have just got to move on and try and focus as well as we can on the cricket out in India."
