Anderson crashes out

Victor Hanescu claimed the scalp of top seed Kevin Anderson in the second round of the Grand Prix Hassan II in Casablanca on Wednesday.

Romania's Hanescu saw off the South African 6-4 6-4 in one hour and 26 minutes to earn himself a place in the quarter-finals, where he will face sixth seed Federico Delbonis.

Argentinian Delbonis progressed thanks to a 6-2 6-7(7/5) 6-4 win over Swiss qualifier Filip Peliwo.

In the first round, Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta beat Germany's Tobias Kamke 6-1 6-2, while seventh seed Robin Haase was beaten 7-6 (8/6) 6-4 by Aleksandr Nedovyesov.

Spain's Albert Montanes and the Czech Republic's Jiri Vesely also progressed to the second round with wins over Kenny De Schepper and Leonardo Mayer respectively, while Guillermo Garcia-Lopez beat Mikhail Kukushkin 7-6(7/5) 7-6(8/6).
