Anderson sees off Thornton

Gary Anderson, Justin Pipe, Peter Wright and Kim Huybrechts reached the last eight of the Players Championship Finals on Saturday.

Anderson overcame a slow start to beat Thornton 10-6 in the second round in Minehead.

Thornton raced into a 3-0 lead in the all-Scottish clash but Anderson responded by winning the next seven in a row, including checkouts of 100 and 121.

The comeback looked on for Thornton when he reduced his deficit to 8-6, only for Anderson to close out the result by taking the next two.

Anderson's reward is a quarter-final against either Simon Whitlock or Ronnie Baxter.

Also on Saturday afternoon, Justin Pipe reeled off the first six legs on the way to a 10-8 triumph over Brendan Dolan.

Pipe will play Steve Beaton or Mervyn King in the last eight.

Peter Wright saw off Wayne Jones 10-7 and will play Kim Huybrechts in the quarter-finals. Huybrechts was a 10-6 winner against Michael Smith.
