Anderson: Tough test ahead

Huddersfield head coach Paul Anderson is keen for his side to test themselves against Wigan when they go up against the Super League champions on Friday night.

The Warriors completed their preparations for the new season with a 28-16 win over St Helens in the James Roby testimonial match and Anderson admits he was impressed by the performance.

Wigan have signed a number of new players over the close-season, including Matt Bowen, Eddy Pettybourne, Dan Sarginson and Tony Clubb.

They have been brought in to replace Sam Tomkins, Lee Mossop, Harrison Hansen and Pat Richards but with an impressive array of youngsters coming through at the DW Stadium, Anderson expects Warriors to be the team to beat once again.

"You look at Wigan from the top all the way down, it's probably the strongest club in the competition in regards to their juniors," he said.

"On Friday they put all their kids on and still scored 18 points against a pretty decent Saints team. The strength in depth they have is unreal.

"I think it is right that we've got such a big game to kick us off and it's got everybody talking about it.

"What you've got is the two teams who won silverware last season, we've just got to make sure we go and perform like the team that we are."
