Apache misses Navan Novice run

Apache Stronghold will miss the Grade One Navan Novice Hurdle and a clash with Sky Bet Supreme favourite Briar Hill.

The Noel Meade-trained five-year-old has created a big impression in winning both his starts this season and was set for a mouth-watering clash with WIllie Mullins' Briar Hill.

However, Meade revealed on Saturday that his charge was suffering with a foot abscess and he has not recovered sufficiently to take his chance.

A statement on www.tuvastables.blogspot.ie, said: "Unfortunately Apache Stronghold won't run today at Navan. He is OK but not 100% so will miss out today and will run at Christmas instead."

In his absence, Briar Hill looks to face a fairly straightforward task against just a couple of rivals and is a 2/9 chance to score with Sky Bet.
