Artiste wins well

Une Artiste's career over fences was back on the right track after Huntingdon's Mares' Novices' Chase.

A 40/1 winner of the 2012 Fred Winter, she had reached solid Listed level over hurdles last term but did not exactly convince when beaten on her chase debut at Plumpton earlier this month.

Sent off the 8/15 favourite, Une Artiste was accompanied throughout by market rival Baby Shine and required some intervention from jockey Barry Geraghty before taking command in the home straight to score by two and a half lengths.

Trainer Nicky Henderson said: "She learned a lot from Plumpton. She's not the biggest, but she was very tidy today.

"I suppose the final of this would be the plan, but it's a handicap and we always seem to end up top weight."
