Asotasi omitted from Samoa squad
Samoa arrived in England for their World Cup campaign on Tuesday without forward Roy Asotasi.
The 31-year-old former New Zealand international, who will be playing for Warrington in 2014, was included in the Samoans' officlal 24-man squad which was released by organisers last Wednesday but was not on the flight that touched down in Manchester.
A World Cup spokesman said that Asotasi had been included in the Samoans' initial 26-man squad but was omitted when it was trimmed to the regulation 24 after the official publication of the tournament squads.
Asotasi was captain of Samoa in their 'domestic' international against Tonga in Penrith earlier this year which they lost 36-4.
Samoa have set up base in Warrington, which will be the venue for their opening group match against holders New Zealand on Sunday, October 27.
