Atletico deal attracts Jimenez
Raul Jimenez appears set to complete a move to Atletico Madrid, with both parties expressing a desire to get a deal done.
The Mexico international forward is currently on the books of Club America in his homeland.
The 23-year-old has made quite an impression since breaking into the senior ranks, with an impressive strike rate drawing admiring glances from Europe.
Atletico have now made their move to take Jimenez to Spain, with a formal offer tabled.
Jimenez admits he is open to discussing a move, with the opportunity to link up with the reigning La Liga champions too good to turn down.
He told Mediotiempo: \"It's something I've always wanted and looked for. The chance has finally arisen and I hope it comes off.
\"It's a chance I cannot pass up, right out of the blue.
\"They're the Spanish league champions and I'll have to go and fight for a place.\"
Club America have also opened the door to a possible transfer, with chairman Ricardo Pelaez prepared to talk terms.
He said: \"Atletico Madrid have made an offer for Raul Jimenez, but until the deal is agreed or rejected we won't make any public statement.
\"If the offer is a good one, which I think it is, the player can leave.\"
