Ayr forced to inspect

This afternoon's meeting at Ayr is subject to an 8am inspection as there is currently standing water on the track.

Persistent rain all evening has left the ground soft, heavy in places as the three-day Ayr Gold meeting is due to get underway.

Iain Ferguson, head of PR at Ayr, said: "It's a bit of a shock, we've had heavy rain from 5am and there's standing water on the track.

"We had nine millimetres up to 6.30 and there's another eight millimetres forecast. Four of the nine came within an hour."
