Bailey up for Rhinos clash

Huddersfield Giants' close-season signing Chris Bailey believes Friday's clash against Leeds Rhinos is just the type of fixture the club needs.

Last year's League Leaders' Shield winners kicked off the new campaign in style with a win at Wigan, but they were subsequently held by Hull KR before losing to Widnes last time out.

Next up are Brian McDermott's Rhinos who command a 100 per cent record three games into the fledgling campaign.

The Giants have an excellent recent record against Leeds, although former London Broncos man Bailey knows Friday's clash with be a keenly-contested match.

"Leeds are going to be tough," he told the Huddersfield Daily Examiner. "It's going to be a great battle, and just the sort of challenge we need right now.

"They were impressive at home to Warrington and have secured two good away wins at Hull KR and Catalan Dragons. They're probably the form side so far this season, along with St Helens.

"In the home draw against Hull KR and the defeat at Widnes the other night, we threw away leads because of our own mistakes.

"And that's down to concentration. We've been taking our foot off the accelerator and letting teams in, and you just can't do that.

"Hopefully, the fact we've got a quality in-form side like Leeds on Friday means we'll have fixed this up, because we know what could happen if we don't."
