Balder registers another Succes
Balder Succes (9/4) won a thrilling renewal of the Betbright Mobile Pendil Novices' Chase at Kempton.
Alan King's six-year-old had come up short in Grade 1 company but he proved his victory at Warwick earlier in the month to be no fluke as he delivered the goods in today's company for a second time.
Loose Chips attempted to make the running and Charlie Longsdon's hat-trick seeker gave a bold sighter in front as the six runners went off at a decent pace.
Fox Appeal loomed large and came with his challenge with three to jump but Wayne Hutchinson sat confidently on the winner and having asked him to quicken, he went on to score by one-and-a-quarter lengths.
God's Own stayed on doggedly to defy Fox Appeal for second place.
A delighted Alan King remarked: "We didn't ride him as aggressively today, and it gives us options,
"I don't think he goes to Cheltenham - the owners aren't keen on it - and that's why he ran today. He can go to Aintree and Punchestown, though."
Hutchinson said: "He's really taken to it, he travelled lovely and settled well. His jumping was electric, really good.
"He's really neat when you want him, and he's got a bit of scope."
