Bannan unhappy on sidelines

Crystal Palace midfielder Barry Bannan admits he isn't happy with his lack of first-team action, but has vowed to win his place back.

After signing from Aston Villa in the summer, the 24-year-old Scotland international has completed 90 minutes just twice so far this season, and has been overlooked by new Eagles boss Tony Pulis more often than not.

But Bannan is determined to prove to the south London club he is worthy of a starting berth, and help his new side stay in the top flight.

"Obviously I am not happy about not playing," Bannan told The Sun.

"But I've just got to keep working hard and hopefully my chance will come again.

"I appreciate the fans backing and, of course, no one is going to be happy when they are not playing."

Bannan also insists that despite preferring a central midfield role, he is willing to play wherever he is needed.

"I have enjoyed my time when I played in the middle," he added.

"But I also played wide a couple of games too."
