Barbican set Sagaro task

Barbican is set to head to Ascot next month after his recent trip to Dubai ended in disappointment.

The four-year-old could finish only seventh in a controversial Dubai Gold Cup, with the initial race being stopped at halfway following a fatal fall before being rerun nearly five hours later.

That was Barbican's first attempt at two miles and despite his defeat, trainer Alan Bailey retains faith in his inmate and will give him a shot at glory in the Moss Bros Sagaro Stakes on May 2.

Bailey said: "He's grand and he goes to Ascot for the Sagaro.

"I don't think he will be going back to Dubai, it was appalling ground and Ryan (Moore) just looked after him.

"He has been great since he came back."
