Bartoli on song in China

France's Marion Bartoli crushed Chan Wing-yau 6-1 6-0 in the first round of the Shenzhen Open in China on Monday.

The second seed was far too strong for her opponent, ranked 357 in the world, as she closed out victory in little more than an hour.

Fifth seed Klara Zakopalova was also a convincing winner as she swept aside fellow Czech Andrea Hlavackova 6-1 6-1.

Peng Shuai, the Chinese sixth seed, overcame Britain's Anne Keothavong 6-4 6-0, while Serbia's Bojana Jovanovski, seeded eight, was also a straight-sets winner, seeing off Alexandra Cadantu of Romania 6-3 6-1.

Also through to the second round are Switzerland's Stefanie Voegele, American Julia Cohen, China's Duan Ying-ying, Chang Kai-chen of Taiwan, Japan's Ayumi Morita and Ukrainian Elina Svitolina.
