Basel face UEFA protest probe
Basel could be facing disciplinary action from UEFA after their Champions League match with Schalke was interrupted by a protest.
Tuesday night's game had to be halted four minutes after it began when Greenpeace protesters abseiled down from the roof of Basel's St Jakob-Park stadium.
Spanish referee Alberto Mallenco stopped the game and, after a delay of around five minutes, the banner was removed and the protesters arrested.
They had been protesting against Schalke's sponsors Gazprom.
UEFA later confirmed that disciplinary action might be taken against Basel over the protest but would wait for the match delegate's report before commenting further.
Julian Draxler's stunning goal earned Schalke a 1-0 victory in the Group E match.
