Bastia back in action in cup

Bastia will host Auxerre in their delayed Coupe de la Ligue last-16 tie on Wednesday after losing an appeal to further postpone the fixture.

The match was initially delayed last week after heavy rain in Corsica left the Stade Armand Cesari surface unplayable.

A new date was set for Wednesday night, however Bastia appealed on the grounds that they would be forced to play three games in six days.

That appeal was officially rejected on Tuesday morning to leave Frederic Hantz's side with little time to recover from their 5-2 defeat to Lyon on Sunday. The reverse dropped Bastia to 12th in Ligue 1.

Auxerre, who sit mid-table in Ligue 2 following their relegation last season, beat Dijon 2-1 in the previous round but have won just twice in their past eight matches.
