Bay in Sandown shake-up

Previous winner Tidal Bay and Spring Heeled are two of the headline names in an 84-strong entry for the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown on April 26.

The Paul Nicholls-trained Tidal Bay notched a wide-margin success over the then-novice Roalco De Farges back in 2012 and that Philip Hobbs-trained rival is again in the reckoning for the extended three-mile-five-furlong feature.

The sponsors make Hobbs' runner their 10-1 favourite, with Tidal Bay at 12-1 along with Nicky Henderson's Crabbie's Grand National challenger Triolo D'Alene, Irish raider Mossey Joe and Nicholls' Rocky Creek.

Same Difference had to settle for second last year behind Quentin Collonges but he could try to go one place better for Nigel Twiston-Davies this time, while third-placed Away We Go is also among the possibles for Willie Mullins.

Cheltenham cross-country winner Balthazar King, Welsh National hero Mountainous, Bury Parade, Houblon Des Obeaux and Unioniste are other leading fancies at this stage.
