Bayer looking at Calhanoglu
Hamburg playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu has been strongly linked with a move to Bayer Leverkusen next season, whether his side avoid relegation or not.
The 20-year-old extended his contract with Hamburg until 2018 only three months ago but it remains to be seen if he will stay at the club if they lose their Bundesliga status.
Hamburg face Greuther Furth over two legs to preserve their uninterrupted place in the top flight of German football and Calhanoglu is regarded as one of the first players who would be sold in the worst-case scenario.
"If he were to move to another club in Germany, then Leverkusen have the best chance," said the player's agent Bektas Demirtas to the Bild newspaper.
"They are a club who are playing in Europe, who would like to buy him and who are also prepared to pay the right price for him."
Calhanoglu scored 11 goals and set up a further four in his first full season as a Hamburg professional.
That was not enough to keep Hamburg out of relegation danger, though, and they face Greuther in a play-off for a berth in the Bundesliga next season.
