Bayern v Man United preview

Striker Wayne Rooney is expected to have a pain-killing injection in his toe so he can play for Manchester United in their Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Defender Rafael (thigh) and midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who complained of feeling dizzy during the 4-0 Premier League win at Newcastle, were absent from United's final training session.

Patrice Evra (knee), Ryan Giggs (hamstring) and Ashley Young (hand) took part despite their injury concerns. Midfielder Juan Mata (cup-tied) and striker Robin van Persie (knee) are unavailable.

Bayern will be without midfielders Bastian Schweinsteiger and Javi Martinez through suspension, while Thiago Alcantara misses out through injury.

Pep Guardiola will otherwise have a full-strength squad at his disposal, with the tie delicately poised at 1-1 following the first leg.
