BBL take over Jets

The British Basketball League have taken over management of the Cheshire Jets franchise on a short-term basis in a bid to save the club.

The BBL confirmed the move on Thursday, two days after withdrawing the franchise from new owner Hadyn Cook, who had asked to postpone this weekend's game against the Mersey Tigers due to ongoing financial problems.

That game will now go ahead while the BBL tries to find a new owner for the team.

Cheshire captain Chez Marks encouraged fans to come to Sunday's game to show the team can remain viable.

"This decision gives the team and the people of Cheshire a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate to any potential new owner how much this club means to the local community," he said.
