Becker to face Agut in final
Benjamin Becker will take on Roberto Bautista Agut in the Topshelf Open final in S-Hertogenbosch after winning their respective semi-final encounters.
German Becker had a slightly easier passage to the final, winning in straight sets, while Spaniard Bautista Agut had to come from a set down to join him in Saturday's championship showdown.
Slight favourite Bautista Agut will be attempting to secure his first ever title while Becker will be vying for his second.
Becker was first to clinch a place in the final after overcoming Joao Sousa of Portugal 6-3 7-6 (7/3) in the first last-four encounter.
The 33-year-old German took the first set with ease, before Sousa fought back in the second set to force take it to a tie-break.
Becker, however, held his nerve to win the tie-break 7/3 and therefore progress, setting up a showdown with Bautista Agut, who beat German Jurgen Melzer 4-6 6-2 7-6 (7-4) in the second semi-final.
Melzer, who accounted for second seed Fernando Verdasco in the quarter-finals, took the first set before Bautista Agut, who was beaten at the quarter-final stage in last year's tournament, squared the match by taking the second set with ease.
The 26-year-old third seed then sealed his final place by taking the third set 7-6, winning the tie-break 7-4.
Meanwhile, American Coco Vandeweghe and China's Zheng Jie will meet in the women's singles final after securing straightforward victories in the semi-finals.
Vandeweghe beat Czech Klara Koukalova 6-4 6-2, while Zheng overcame Slovakia's Magdalena Rybarikova 6-1 6-3.
