Beech thrilled with Dale spirit
Rochale are becoming a top team at securing victories with ten men, much to the delight of assistant manager Chris Beech.
Peter Vincenti was sent off against Bury a couple of weeks ago as Dale won 1-0 and they held onto a 2-1 victory over bottom club Accrington as George Donnelly was dismissed on the stroke of half-time after a challenge on Nicky Hunt.
"We are becoming an expert team at defending leads with 10 men," he said.
"But obviously we don't want to have to do that and we will look at the video and appeal if it shows that it shouldn't have been a sending off. I have seen a photo and it looks like George got the ball.
"I am not saying the Accrington lad feigned injury as I know George's tackles can be hard - I have had them in training - but their lad recovered quickly to begin the second half.
"I think the referee panicked."
However Beech was pleased with his side's overall performance after they raced into a two-goal lead inside 12 minutes before Stanley came back and tried to use the extra man to their advantage.
"We started well and looked like we could have carried on but then, for some reason, we dropped off before the sending off," continued Beech.
"We weren't happy with the defending for their goal and we spoke about it at half time and we were excellent after the break defensively which was pleasing."
