Belfast power on at summit

Belfast Giants continue to dominant the Elite League standings after clinching their third successive win with a 3-1 win at Sheffield Steelers

The visitors took control of the game with goals from Darryl Lloyd, Kevin Saurette and Evan Cheverie, with Rob Sirianni's reply in the third period little more than a consolation.

Belfast are now 15 points ahead of Dundee Stars, who fell to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of in-form Hull Stingrays.

Nikita Kashirsky and Guillaume Doucet traded goals in the opening period before Dundee moved ahead in the second with Nico Sacchetti's strike.

However, Hull came out blazing in the final third with efforts from Sylvain Cloutier, Omar Pacha and Pavel Gomeniuk earning the East Yorkshire club a sixth consecutive win.

Bobby Chaumont scored twice as Fife Flyers beat bottom side Edinburgh Capitals 5-2, while Michael Henrich netted in overtime to seal a 3-2 win for Coventry Blaze over the Nottingham Panthers.
