Belfast put seven past Cardiff

Elite League leaders Belfast put seven past Cardiff on Saturday night, while Sheffield left it late to beat Coventry.

The Giants were 7-2 winners at the Odyssey Arena, with Colin Shields and Jeffrey Szwez both scoring twice.

Sheffield are second having scored in overtime to beat Coventry 5-4 - Robert Dowd the hero - while third-placed Dundee were beaten 4-3 by Fife on a shoot-out.

Elsewhere Greg Jacina scored twice on his debut for Nottingham who saw off Edinburgh 5-2, while Hull and Braehead went to a shoot-out before the Stingrays won 4-3.
