Benn hands Stars overtime victory

A day after Rich Peverley collapsed, the Dallas Stars claimed a 3-2 victory over the St Louis Blues thanks to Jamie Benn's overtime winner.

With Peverly stable in hospital after suffering what was described as a "cardiac event" during Monday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets - which was abandoned - and Alex Chiasson joining him because of emotional distress, Colton Sceviour and Antoine Roussel also scored for the Stars.

Alex Pietrangelo and Roman Polak were on target for the Blues.

Jussi Jokinen and Sidney Crosby scored for Pittsburgh to give the Pirates a 2-0 win over the Washington Capitals.

Marc-Andre Fleury claimed the shut-out on 32 saves.

Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 39 shots to help the Blue Jackets to a 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings.

Nick Foligno, Boone Jenner, Brandon Dubinsky and Derek MacKenzie scored for Columbus after Danny DeKeyser had given Detroit a first-period lead.

Two goals and an assists from Joe Pavelski helped the San Jose Sharks to a 6-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Jaromir Jagr scored the winner as the New Jersey Devils edged out the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1.

The Nashville Predators beat the Buffalo Sabres 4-1 and the Phoenix Coyotes saw off the Florida Panthers 3-1, while there were also victories for the Edmonton Oilers and the Carolina Hurricanes.
