Bentley beaming after win
Jim Bentley said he was delighted with Morecambe's performance as they sealed a convincing 3-0 opening day win at Dagenham.
Goals from Kevin Ellison, Padraig Amond and Jack Redshaw saw Bentley's men pick up the three points in a game that came to life in the second period.
Bentley said: "It was the perfect start and in many ways a complete performance. We always looked solid at the back while always looking threatening up front.
"We created and took our chances and limited them to very little and I am delighted with how everything went to plan.
"We had a good shape all the way through and anyone who saw our third goal would have been impressed I'm sure as it was the perfect example of counter attacking football.
"It's always nice to kick off the season with a win and to score three goals makes it all the more sweeter. We won't get carried away but we can all travel home happy."
Dagenham boss Wayne Burnett admitted his side were beaten by the better team on the day.
The Daggers looked the more threatening side in the first half but failed to test Barry Roche in the Morecambe goal until late in the game when debutant Jamie Cureton saw an effort tipped over.
He said: "It's obviously a massive disappointment to lose by three goals and I am not going to make any excuses.
"We made some vital mistakes at vital times and we were made to pay.
"I thought we played well in the first half and were probably the better side but we were sloppy at the start of the second half and gave an early goal away and that made a massive difference.
"Goals do change games and that is what happened today and they went on to cause us a few problems.
"We had a few half chances but nothing more than that really and it means we have plenty to work on."
