Morecambe manager Jim Bentley wants his players to accept they are currently embroiled in a relegation battle.
The Shrimps are unbeaten in three League Two games and lie 11 points clear of the drop zone.
But Bentley was frustrated to see them pass up the chance to put further distance between themselves and those struggling at the foot of the table by conceding a late equaliser in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Oxford.
"We were looking comfortable so to switch off at the back and concede late on is worrying really," he told the Morecambe Visitor.
"We've got to make sure we cut things like that out, because like it or not, I still think it's a relegation battle even at an early stage.
"That was a good six-pointer for me and we could have got good distance between ourselves and Oxford."
