Bergsma bags gold and record

Jorrit Bergsma won gold and smashed the Winter Olympic record for the 10,000m speed skating.

Bergsma, who won bronze in the 5,000m, glided home in 12 minutes 44.45 seconds and despite an excellent run by Kramer in the final pair, the 28-year-old secured his place at the top of the podium.

Kramer was just 4.57 seconds slower than Bergsma, with De Jong, the event leader with just two runs remaining, finishing 22.74 seconds back in third.

The clean sweep was Holland's fourth in nine speed skating events so far at the Games and took their record medal tally to 19.
