Christophe Berra accepts it is far from certain that Wolves will make an instant return to the Premier League next season.
Berra recognises teams will raise their game against Wolves after being part of the top flight for three successive seasons.
Berra said: "The aim is to get back in the league as quickly as possible and try and win the championship. It's easier said than done but that is the main aim for the club.
"You've seen a lot of teams go down - look at West Ham this season - and it's not easy to come up.
"Teams will raise their game against you because you've played in the Premier League for three years and it will be tough. If you want to come up, you've got to earn it."
