Betting suspended on Mackay
Bookmakers have suspended betting on Malky Mackay becoming the next Crystal Palace manager.
Mackay, who worked alongside current Palace sporting director Iain Moody at Cardiff City, held a second round of talks with co-owner Steve Parish on Monday over the role vacated by Tony Pulis last week.
Mackay, who began his managerial career at Watford in 2008, steered Cardiff to the Championship title in 2013 before he was sacked by City just six months later, one month after Moody had left the club.
Pulis left Selhurst Park last week following a disagreement with Parish over the club's transfer policy.
Former Tottenham coach Tim Sherwood was another linked with the Palace job but it now appears that Mackay is in pole position to take charge for the weekend game against West Ham.
Palace, under caretaker boss Keith Millen, lost 2-1 in their opening game of the season at Arsenal on Saturday, less than 48 hours after Pulis' shock departure.
