Beverley to hold inspection

This evening's fixture at Beverley is subject to a 12pm precautionary inspection.

Although the track was found to be fit for racing this morning, further heavy showers have been forecast.

The going is soft following 10 millimetres of overnight rain.

Beverley's six-race card begins at 6.30pm and is due to feature the Hilary Needler Trophy over five furlongs.

Raceday clerk of the course John Morley said: "The track is fine, as it stands, but there is a weather warning from the Met Office.

"It's forecast heavy (rain) all morning, so we need to keep an eye on things, just in case we suddenly got a lot more rain which sent us the other way.

"The track has handled any rain we've had this season really well, so I'm hoping that will again be the case."
