Marian Hossa's overtime goal helped the Chicago Blackhawks see off the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 for their eighth straight win.

Patrick Kane scored Chicago's first, equalising Jeff Petry's opener, to stretch their record scoring streak to 19 games to start the season.

Viktor Stalberg then scored in the third to take the game into OT after Nail Yakupov had once again put Edmonton ahead.

Slava Voynov scored the go-ahead goal and Anze Kopitar had three assists as the Los Angeles Kings won their fourth straight, beating the Anaheim Ducks 5-2.

Dustin Penner, Dustin Brown, Jake Muzzin and Jeff Carter also scored for the Kings as they halted Anaheim's six-game winning streak.

Roman Josi scored twice, including an overtime winner, and added two assists as the Nashville Predators beat the Dallas Stars 5-4.

The Ottawa Senators beat the Montreal Canadiens 2-1 via a shootout, and the Toronto Maple Leafs were 4-2 winners over the Philadelphia Flyers.
