Bury manager Kevin Blackwell believes new signing Gregg Wylde can become a crowd favourite at Gigg Lane.
The former Rangers winger joined the Shakers on loan from Bolton last month and made his debut in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Southend in the FA Cup.
Having shown glimpses of his potential, Wylde, 21, is set for a second chance to impress against Preston in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy northern area quarter-final on Tuesday night.
Blackwell told the Manchester Evening News: "Second half he really came into the game.
"We got much more ball out wide and he looked a real threat. When we pushed him over the other side he was able to come inside and was very unlucky with one strike.
"Gregg showed that he's got ability and I think he can excite the crowd."
