Blair will support new captain
Scotland international scrum-half Mike Blair insists the team will support coach Andy Robinson choice as his new captain.
Saracens back-row Kelly Brown, who has 49 caps, has been strongly tipped land the armband.
Lock Alastair Kellock, scrum-half Rory Lawson, Edinburgh hooker Ross Ford and Blair have all held the role in the last two years.
Blair believes there are plenty of suitable candidates in the squad and that the focus remains on the group and not individuals.
"Whoever is captain will get a lot of support from guys around them," said Blair. "There are guys within the team, within the squad, who have plenty of caps and experience.
"It's not so much a situation now where it's just one person. It is a group of people. There are multiple people involved in the leadership of the side." Scotland tackle New Zealand at Murrayfield on November 11 and Blair knows a strong start will be imperative if they are to topple the All Blacks for the first time in over 100 years.
"Certainly the last two times we've played them, they've almost been out of sight within 15 minutes," he added.
"The most important thing for us is how we perform in that first 10, 15, 20 minutes.
"We've got to keep those games close and once we get into those closing minutes it's about managing that situation."
