Blanc happy with PSG display
Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc praised his players for a workmanlike display as they booked their place in the semi-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue with a 3-1 win at Bordeaux on Tuesday night.
PSG needed two goals in the final five minutes to advance, however, after Javier Pastore put the visitors ahead on the stroke of half-time only for Andre Biyogo Poko to get Les Girondins back on level terms within three minutes of the restart.
Adrien Rabiot restored PSG's lead in the 86th minute and substitute Blaise Matuidi sealed matters two minutes later.
"It was a very competitive match, like all cup matches," said Blanc.
"We controlled the game very well in the first half, despite playing on a difficult pitch. I think we played good, attractive football tonight and created a number of goalscoring chances.
"We were rewarded at the end and that's a good thing.
"In the cup competitions, the main thing is to qualify. We did that tonight. It's also good that we avoided extra time."
The three remaining quarter-final ties will be held on Wednesday night as Nantes host Nice, Troyes entertain Evian and Lyon welcome Marseille.
