Blanc: PSG deal was in place

Paris St Germain head coach Laurent Blanc has revealed an agreement to extend his contract was in place before their Champions League exit at the hands of Chelsea.

Les Dogues retained the French championship in midweek and the club announced on Thursday that Blanc had extended his contract by one year until June 2016.

The former France coach has overseen a team constructed at the lavish expense of Qatar Sports Investments, headed by president Nasser Al Khelaifi.

And, although his future as PSG boss looked fragile after their elimination from the Champions League, Blanc revealed there was a 'mutual trust' between himself and the club's owners after signing his new deal.

"Frankly, the agreement I had with Paris was in place before the Champions League elimination against Chelsea," he told a press conference.

"I felt mutual trust all season long. Results were important just as much as the way we played - it's important for the club officials.

"Maybe it might not look like it to you but I am very happy to have signed a new deal at Paris."
