Blanc salutes powerful PSG
Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc paid tribute to his players for a "big performance" as they extended their unbeaten Ligue 1 record with a 4-0 hammering of Lyon.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored two penalties for the leaders, with further strikes from Edinson Cavani and Thiago Silva wrapping up a resounding win which gives PSG a four-point advantage over the chasing pack.
With four victories on the trot in Ligue 1, Blanc is hoping for more of the same as they prepare for a busy few weeks of football ahead of the winter break.
"My team gave a big performance," he told www.psg.fr. "It was a great match.
"Lyon posed problems for us in the first 25 minutes, packing the midfield with players. But the first goal got us going and our performance in the second half was excellent.
"I congratulate the players because, despite playing every three days, they remain motivated. I hope that will continue."
Defender Maxwell is confident the team can keep notching up victories, saying: "We showed a lot of quality.
"We left the pitch with the feeling of a job well done and that is very important for the rest of the championship.
"Everything is positive for us at the moment, for the fans, for everyone at the club. We will give our all to keep this run going."
Lyon coach Remi Garde accepted the result, but was sorry to see his team's three-match unbeaten run ended with such a one-sided scoreline.
He told his club's official website: "The defeat made sense but the scoreline was harsh. It's tough to take.
"If I have any regrets, it's that my team were unable to continue their momentum. We had no success at all in front of goal.
"But looking at the match overall, I can't complain about much. I tried to do what I could with the team but it was not enough."
