Blues defeat Blackhawks again

Barret Jackman scored in overtime as the St Louis Blues edged out the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 to take a 2-0 series lead.

The reigning Stanley Cup champions now face a stern test to advance from the first round of play-offs. They were up against it as first period goals from Chris Porter and Kevin Shattenkirk put the Blues in command.

Chicago came roaring back through strikes from Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook and Michael Rozsival, but Vladimir Tarasenko struck with seconds remaining to force overtime, where Jackman sealed the clash in the Blues' favour.

Matt Calvert scored twice - including the overtime winner - as the Columbus Blue Jackets levelled the series at 1-1 with the Pittsburgh Penguins after a 4-3 win in game two.

The Penguins looked firmly on course to double their series lead after two goals from Brian Gibbons, with Matt Niskanen adding the third after Ryan Johansen had halved the deficit.

But the Blue Jackets hit back through Calvert and Jack Johnson before the former struck in overtime.

Gabriel Landeskog scored twice to help the Colorado Avalanche claim a 4-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild to double their lead in the series.

Landeskog struck twice in the second period after the Avalanche's Nathan Mackinnon had cancelled out Charlie Coyle's opener for Minnesota, who halved the deficit through Marco Scandella only for Paul Stastny to give Colorado a two-goal cushion once more.
