Boss keen on Sunderland link
Graham Kavanagh is hoping Carlisle's friendly clash with Sunderland could lead to some mutually beneficial loan deals this season.
The Cumbrians had goalkeeper Jordan Pickford at Brunton Park last term and will again be looking for reinforcements after dropping down to Sky Bet League Two.
Kavanagh is keen to keep the clubs' relationship going after a bond was established when Carlisle lost 3-1 in the FA Cup to the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light in January.
He told the club's official website: "Sunderland have been very good with us, from the FA Cup tie last season through to different bits behind the scenes regarding players and trying to help us out.
"This game now gives us another chance to improve that relationship. That can only be good for the club.
"I think they understand where we are financially and they know we're trying to do things the right way.
"They want to help us if they can. It works for everybody and hopefully we'll be able to use them this season in terms of players and things like that, but we'll see how things go."
