Boss ready for new challenge

Fleetwood boss Graham Alexander admits his side are sailing into uncharted waters this season after rising up to League One.

Season tickets sales have doubled since the Cod Army secured their sixth promotion in 10 years and the Lancashire coastal town is buzzing ahead of Saturday's visit of Crewe.

"I'm really excited about the new season starting," Alexander told Sky Sports News. "Obviously, it's a big step up for us, we've got a lot of individuals that haven't played at this sort of level, but pre-season has gone well, the real stuff is upon us and we're looking forward to it.

"I won't be setting any long-term targets but just going from week to week - and week to week I think we can compete with any team we face. It's just about finding a way to win against some good opponents and trying to pick up as many points as we can."

Chairman Andy Pilley added: "We've come from very humble origins and to reach the heady heights of League One is really a dream come true. It's very exciting to be looking at some of the teams we'll be facing from big cities, while we're just a small town and we can't wait to get going."
