Boss sticks boot into Cobblers

Northampton manager Aidy Boothroyd was far from satisfied with his side's display in the 3-1 home defeat to Bradford.

The Cobblers were well beaten at Sixfields and Boothroyd accused his charges of perhaps relaxing too much, despite their League Two survival not yet mathematically assured.

"Bradford deserved their win, they outfought us all over the pitch and I never like to say that about my teams," said Boothroyd, whose side are eight points clear of the relegation zone and have four matches left to play.

"We had several efforts cleared off the line and hit the bar twice, that makes it sound as though we played well but we didn't.

"Their third goal summed the game up. We got ourselves back in the game straight after half-time but then we went and conceded straight away.

"The players were too relaxed and I think they thought they had done enough to be safe before today's game but we're not safe yet and we are nowhere near where we need to be."
