Bouchard bounds into last eight

Eugenie Bouchard booked her place in the quarter-finals of the Nurnberger Versicherungscup with a second-round win over Anastasia Rodionova.

Second seed and world number 19 Bouchard proved far too strong for her Australian opponent and needed just 44 minutes to complete a 6-0 6-1 win.

Also in second round action, Japanese sixth seed Kurumi Nara was beaten 6-4 6-2 by Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan, while there were wins for Karin Knapp and Karolina Pliskova.

Top seed Angelique Kerber got her campaign underway with a first-round win over New Zealand's Marina Erakovic.

World number nine Kerber was broken once in the second set but was too strong for her opponent and won 6-4 6-2 to book a second-round clash with Pliskova.
