Bradley inspires Boston comeback
Jackie Bradley Jr drove the game-winning home run as the Boston Red Sox snapped a three-game skid with a 5-1 MLB win over the Texas Rangers.
Bradley excelled both in offence, hitting a pair of two-out RBI singles, and in defence, sliding to rob a hit from Donnie Murphy in the second innings and making a spectacular catch to deny JP Arencibia in the third.
He told MLB.com: "I'm happy to put some runs on the board for the pitcher. It's definitely a start. It's a work in progress and I'm continuously trying to get better every single day."
The retiring Derek Jeter hit a double in the New York Yankees' two-run fifth inning as the hosts at Yankee Stadium clinched a 4-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles.
Yadier Molina helped the St Louis Cardinals win their home opener at the Busch Stadium with a three-run double off Tony Cingrani to down the Cincinnati Reds 5-3.
Elsewhere, the Los Angeles Angels beat the Houston Astros 9-1 while the Kansas City Royals were 4-2 winners over the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Colorado Rockies were comfortable 8-1 victors against the Chicago White Sox and the Oakland Athletics claimed an 8-3 win at the expense of the Minnesota Twins.
